France and Britain made matters worse because all they did was solely based on their greed for the land and the resources that this area possessed.  They installed new arab governments in all the countries besides Palestine.  These governments were all created with royal descendants which not only kept the royal lines continuing in these new areas but also let Britain and France maintain some control.  They did not install this government in Palestine because it was considered such holy land. The French did have one positive impact however with the creation of the Suez Canal which made it a lot easier for trading with Asia to occur.  The United Nations did fulfill their mandate in trying to create world peace in this area, they created a proposal which should have been fine.  The Jewish were happy with it.  They just did not suspect the Arabs to be so difficult and end up attacking them.

What were the outcomes of the four Arab-Israeli wars (War of Independence, Suez Crisis, 6 Days War, Yom Kippur War) and how did this further establish the country of Israel?

Belonged to France and Great Britain during this time, and Egypt began aligning themselves with the Soviet Union and Nasser nationalized the Suez Canal. There is a dramatic change in the influence of the region from the US and the USSR. The change began after the British and the French made a deal with the Israelis to fight first which allowed the Jewish people to use the canal. The French and the British back out of the crisis when the US threatened to cut the oil supply. The Six days war resulted in the Egyptians planning an attack on the Israeli. This continued with the Israelis first strike policy, and they caught wind of the attack due to there large base of informants and destroyed all the air force on the ground on the surrounding Arab countries meaning they could not attack. They continued to advance and took over theGolden Heights, West Bank and the Sinai Peninsula, but then had to retreat due to the fear of taking over all the Arab nations.

To what extent were the conflicts between Iran and Iraq and Iraq and Kuwait fought over oil resources? To what extent were they religious?

The conflict between Iran and Iraq during the Iran-Iraq War began mainly over religion because of the recent revolution in Iran; however wanting to obtain the oil fields also played a major factor in this tension. The Iraqi government became unsatisfied with Iran's possession of theKhuzestan province as it was extremely rich of oil resources that almost always increases in value. The war broke out in fear that the Shiite revolution that was occurring in Iran would soon spread to Iraq. More tensions added to this religion-based war as both nation claimed territory of the opposing nation. The United Arab Emirates and Kuwait were constantly exceeding their OPEC quotas for oil production and--in doing so--were over-producing oil. This resulted in a downfall of oil prices which created Iraq's loss of $7 billion a year. From this extreme loss of money, Iraq then decided to invade Kuwait which marked the beginning of the Gulf War--an entirely oil-based conflict.
